Happy New Year!

I'm a naughty blogger. Anyhow, as mentioned in the previous post, the Google party was awesome. Such a great creative colloboration with the Prop Gallery, Seattle Parties, Cabfare Productions, and some other famous people. I'm in a super duper rush to get these posted before another fast-paced weeked. Without further hold up, here they are!

The darling Leslie Wheatley of Seattle Parties.

Mitch from Cabfare Productions.

She's intense. I love it!

Cheers to the FAB creative crew for putting this event together! It was smashing baby, yeah.

Its his passion. You see it in his smile.

Oopsie daisy!

My second love is EVENT photography. No seriously. Attending the parties, let alone shooting them, is loads of fun. Its a pinch me moment shooting dimly lit rooms with awesome decor. Two weeks ago I invited myself to to hang with uber- cool DJ's, Leslie & Sean. More details to follow sometime this week. They are amazing DJ's and I want to share some info about them with you. I've been down with the flu for almost 2 weeks, now that I'm back up to speed, I have to get busy posting on the latest. Here's a snippet of the party. Lucky me, Mitch (from Cabfare productions) posed for a cameo. Gorsh, I'm blushing!  You'll love Google's crazy holiday photos. Stay tuned.

The blog's text editor is broken today, which means the ENTER key does not work. We'll get it fixed up soon...please bear with me until then. Today is just a wonderful day. I'm going to share a neat little story about why today is a very fabulous day.

Guess what? Miller's will donate $100k to worldwide charities in 2008! What/Who is Miller's?

Rewind 2 weeks to WPPI in Las Vegas. 1 big room, hundreds of vendors to see & meet. I passed by the jazzy Miller's Imaging Lab expo-booth and saw they offered a fancy wheel to spin & win prizes. I am a customer of Miller's lab and was very excited to step up to the magic wheel. Finally my turn came up and I thought to myself, yeah right, I am NEVER winning anything.  Get this:  I spun the wheel...tick....tick...tick, just like Jeapoardy....to my surprise & delight, I won a $1k ticket to donate to a charity of my choice!

It was a tough decision no doubt, all kinds of questions came up like, how do I know which one is legit? Who gets the money? Will it be used efficiently?  A great website called www.charitynavigator.org does the homework for you.  There's info on each charity to include tax reports, financial breakdowns, PIE CHARTS (i'm a visual person, so this helped me) growth alerts, etc. After much looking and comparing I've asked Miller's to donate the $1k ticket to the Fistula Foundation.

I heard about the Fistula foundation while waiting at the airport in Vegas. Fixin' to board for the return flight to Seattle I struck up a casual conversation with the business guy sitting next to me (as he chewed tobacco, ewwww) he listened carefully about the donation prize and without a moment's hesitation, he said 'google fistula. f-i-s-t-u-l-a.'  I forget things (even when I try really hard to remember) but for some reason 'fistula' stuck in my memory with no problem.

What is fistula? Its a gut-wrenching condition that affects women after childbirth causing  lifelong bladder & digestive incontinence. Some are abandoned, some live in isolation, its a very hard life. Perhaps folks out there in blogworld might not want to think about what goes on outside of our American bubble, but believe me, this foundation is doing AMAZING things to help women who suffer from fistula. I thought you should know!

The FF is among the top 5 fastest expanding charities. Johnson & Johnson and a bunch of other sister foundations help them out, too! The even super-er good news is Miller's donation of $1k will provide at least 2 women with surgeries (at $450 each) which includes post-op rehab, new clothing, even tutoring/education during the hospitalization. I am SO happy and humbled.  THANK YOU MILLER'S!!!

What's your impression of this color swatch? Like it? LOVE it?  Impartial?

I'm  ready to assume the task of remodeling our 1920's home, beginning with the cornerstone of all things great & small: a color pallet. Either we start with the basics or be forced to meet people at coffee shops for ever and ever. Worst case scenario: ditch home renovating completely and move to a furnished condo decorated by flamboyant interior designers who will charge us millions. For now, Ray's choice of blue for the walls doesn't scream Martha Stewart Apprentice, but its a leap ahead from the initial molasses brown interiors chosen by the previous owner.

After hesistating 2.893 seconds Ray agreed to end the blue/brown saga that we began in August without strife, because like most men, he doesn't really care, and menial things like 'matching' don't irk him in the slightest.  Although, in his opinion, tropical blue looks ravishing because he picked it out and it looks like the sky.  In conclusioin, we still need a respectable color pallet as demonstrated by this scientific formula

men + blue walls = the sky

Specifically for the living/dining room,  the atmosphere should feel classic, lively, refreshing. I used the words: asian, grass, green, bamboo, spring  while searching Kuler on Adobe's website *see below*

To try some of your own color combinations google " kuler + adobe" [ i tried linking the site here, didn't work ]  Type in adjectives or nouns to describe the mood the colors should evoke.
