Just a few wrap up shots from Arizona. Land of the SUN!! There are a million reasons why Alaskan Airlines should fly direct to PHX. For one, Phoenix has many wonderful bakery shops that specialize in cupcakes.

This is called Red Rock.  Ray was being himself (mr. funnybone) and asked the ranger lady "So uh, where's the Red Rock?"  The ranger was so kind and didn't get his little malicious fun-poking. "Uh, well sir, uh, the whole area is known as Red Rock. There's not one single red rock, but many. The whole region..."  he goes "Well which one is the Red Rock..."  It was our hysterical little tourist joke. I half-assed taking photos on Monday while Ray drove. A sudden sickness came over me the previous day, like the FASTEST I've ever been ill before. Too lazy/tired/battered to move, I snapped some shots from my seat. Extremely scenic place.

Here's our angry cowboy photo.  Ray forgot his sunglasses in Seattle, I'm pumped full of dayquil, one of my eyes was swollen, crusty with tears. Can't imagine how we must have looked meandering in the desert. Squinting and staggering around. ha!

This was our last stop before trekking home. Clarendon Suites Hotel. Holy Eccentric Hotels Batman.  This tickled every eccentric taste in my bones. Art everywhere, colors galore, mosaics ( LOVE mosaics) They just finished celebrating a Gay'Lesbian event, so lots of cool folks hanging around. They even upgraded our room to a King Suite for free. How nice!  I highly recommend them, they're 4 miles from PHX hotel. Fantastic menu, the salads were to die for.

Such a groovy room. Ray rubbed it in about the blue walls. See thread about Blue walls=the sky.  Its no Westin Resort,  but hands down the most unique hotel we've ever stayed at.

And last but not least. A little cactus. Ray took this picture I think. Such a neat plant.  Thanks for reading our little travel story. Really we didn't take many photos of ourselves at all. We LOVE to travel for weddings. Anything new or out of the ordinary is a treat! We  might go to India next year and visit Marisa & Kanishka and do a trash the dress in front of the Taj Mahal!

meet  "clloyd"

A lovely Euro couple exchanged nuptials at the Westin Kierland Resort in Scottsdale, AZ  over Memorial Weekend! It wasn't the broiler heat that was expected, rather, the day was mild, and the day unique unto itself! From a tender ceremony to sassy cocktails, this party included it all. Claire's golden smile lights up Lloyd's life, together they radiate joy and people gathered from around the globe to take part in this special occasion! Please enjoy this little sneak peek without spoiling the surprise, here are a few of my personal faves.

The picture below was taken during dinner, a time when most guests are focused on cuisine and fine wine. I don't know how to call this type of moment at night when its past sunset but before dark (anyone?) the sky turns an unbelievable blue. It is my favorite time of day to shoot a 'remember me' photo of the locale, you will see this in almost every wedding album one way or the other.

locale :  The Westin   Scottsdale, AZ
planner: Kim  {Wedding and Events Blog} Mrs. Designher
photos:  yours truly

Such a fun group of people, they made taking pictures such a joy. They were relaxed and funny!

I had somewhat of a love affair with this cake and the wall. I'll admit.

A taste of  something completely different from our outside portraits!

The photobooth strikes back, its been a while, but it made an appearance again. *wink *wink*

My favorite moment of the day- could they be any happier??!!!

Congratulations to Claire + Lloyd, may you be showered with all the happiness in the world! We thank you for allowing us to be a part of your special day.

Julie & Tom WOW'ed me with their outfits & zany personalities. They are SO in love and completely adorably cute and content doing nothing at all. Just a sneak peak at their e-session in Fremont here.... I wish we could blog much more of the super-rad things going on, but Memorial Day is upon us and tomorrow's flight to Phoenix comes early. We're off for about 6 days to Arizona to shoot with Claire & Lloyd, so we'll catch you up on the scoop after the holiday.  Sorry no logo today, its on the fly as we hurl suitcases into the car! Thanks Julie & Tim! See you again June 8th...

We switched up the mood after a teeny break to watch the sun go down. They broke out a pack of smokes and out came the big flash. I think I'm on some kind of flash whim, something about newspaper-ish shots from the 30's got into me lately... The expressions Julie gave me were fierce, no?

Such awesome people to photograph.

As much as I hate to admit I guess I'm behind on blogging...got wrapped up in projects this week and forgot to keep the rest of you entertained. My bad!

Here's a taste of something different from weddings. You know I like to dabble in other things besides white dresses & romance. Now presenting 2 very, very talented upcoming artists in Seattle. Their sound is unique and easy to hear. I can picture myself walking into a swanky boutique shop and hearing their music. You ever have stores you like to visit and stick around because of the way it makes you feel?  Of course you do. Citizen Ave will make you want to stick around for drinks, for slinkin', for drinkin, wherever their sound is present the vibe will be as chillin' and keep you nodding your head.  Their music can be identified as " Left @ Hip Hop right before acquired taste"  I was so stoked when they asked me to shoot their PR packet and album promos. We met on myspace (lots of artists lurking) hooked up to discsuss ideas over drinks and realized it was a great match. You MUST listen to their demos, "She" and "Hard Lemonade" combine 2 very diverse sounds, but  seriously, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Clever. Classy. Funky. Jazzy. Gritty. I love it! I'm so excited about their success, if you get the chance, stop by and share the love: www.myspace.com/citizenavemusic
