Hello Friends and stalkers, Happy Monday!  I've been in town for nearly 3 1/2 weeks and enjoying every minute of it!  Being back in Tacoma equates to a lot more blogging, faster turnaround times, and a jam packed studio. The travel bug is gone, at least temporarily. I love traveling but homecoming is equally awesome!

Here's a tasty tidbit for you this morning, please meet Kiana Phi, an amazing IFBB Pro Figure competitor. She is an accomplished lady of fitness who drove up from Oregon to shoot a boudoir session with me. After exchanging ideas on her goals for the shoot,  we determined her need for "modern classy meets sexy fitness chick."  She loved her images so much that after viewing, she launched an entirely new website using the photos from our shoot. I'm delighted to see her profession as an image consultant, trainer and speaker, take off to the stars!  Here's a screen grab from her site.  Its been a pleasure shooting for print work and advertising genres in recent months!

As a side note, Kiana hired Irene Deneen, my favorite Tacoma makeup artist, for boudoir hair & makeup. You should not book a pro photo session without pro makeup. Seriously, don't try to do it yourself! Would you operate on your own knee? Of course course not. Pamper yourself and add hair & makeup to your boudoir session for the ultimate experience!

To see Kiana's website, please visit:  http://kianaphi.com

I'm excited to see Carina & Stren's wedding published in Your Wedding Day magazine! You might want to see my blog post about their Lopez Island wedding to soak up the luscious details at Rocky R Ranch.

YWD is my all-time FAVORITE wedding magazine and I'm elated to take part in it!  It was a blast getting to know Carina & Stren over the months leading up to their nuptuals and working behind the scenes with NW Event Success, City Catering, Butler Valet, and Austin Beaver. This gorgeous 3 page spread dishes on all the details of signature drinks, flowers, amazing dress, toothpaste colored Christian Louboutin shoes, and much more! To see the full spread, download the full version HERE!

Also, for photographers, Matt Grossman assisted for me at Carina and Stren's wedding and continues to help me shoot this season. However, Matt will launch his own wedding gigs and will be scarcely assisting. If you are looking for second shooting opportunities with me in WA, OR, AZ, SoCal and beyond for 2010 and 2011, send an email to april@aprilgreer.com and be sure to mention where you live, your traveling capabilities, and of course, your website!

Lots of things going on this year behind the scenes in the fashion circuit!  In February I had the pleasure of shooting an ad campaign for Rosaline Hampton at my studio. It was Superbowl Sunday, we shot the entire project before kick off and had a blast! All of us worked at a fast and furious pace. I was excited to see this come together quickly. Fashion Camp kicks off in a just a few weeks!

Below are a couple of screen grabs from the website, it has a really cool vibe. Rosaline's designers did a sweet job of building a site geared towards a youthful crowd. It speaks volumes about her vision for fashion.

Fashion Camp is the first of its kind in the Northwest!  I'm excited to be a sponsor photographer and take part in a project to inspire young ladies! For more information and to check out photos visit FASHION CAMP here.  If you are a young person interested in this exciting project, get on the list now! There are limited seats avavailable for this summer.

A snapshot of the brochure.

Also not to miss are a couple of behind the scenes photos. Thanks to everyone who made this shoot a blast, see you at Fashion Camp!

One of two new websites will be launching in the next couple of days. Check it out!  www.aprilgreer.com While it is still under construction, I will be on vacation. I wish I was on permanent vacation, but Warren Buffet is not my type.

For laughs, I kept a running tab on to-do's before going on vacation. It included something like:

design 7 albums
update 3 books
process 23 boudoir sessions
process 2 weddings
retouch 4 layouts
walk dogs
pay taxes
launder 7 loads of clothing
take car to the auto shop (VW is broken)
pack suitcase
work on images for website
paint office
sell old studio furniture
shower??
reschedule 4 shoots
process 2 events
process 3 test shoots
daydream for 1 minute..
blog, network, meet, return calls, go crazy....
sleep??

Of course, not everything was finished before leaving. I am looking forward to my first day off in a month. Not that I'm complaining, because I like to be busy, but I am very much looking forward to 9 days of sunshine and my awesome husband who floated me this entire month on household responsibilities. He is a good man!

Good bye old April Greer Photography, hello new studio. Here's a peek while we're under construction.
If you can't get to my website or email, please contact me here:  ttownphotog@gmail.com

*******************STUDIO CLOSED  MAY 6-18TH. I will not have access to email or phone during that time. *************************************

"We can fix your rain bang!"  So goes the saying at Swink Style Bar. You can find their ads in local magazines in BRIGHT pink boasting 20 buck Tuesdays or awesome updo's in 30 minutes

What is SWINK?  Swink is a blowout bar! I stumbled across an ad and ripped it out of the magazine. Natalie gladly let me come down to peek at their new place in and interview them about their new salon. It was not to disappoint!

As an avid traveler, I frequenly have the need to get my hair jet-set for events. A girl has put forth her best tress, right?  Well, Swink Style Bar is the answer! If you want to GET IN for a do and GET OUT in a hurry Swink is your next pitstop!  I had a few questions and wanted to share the goings-on of my new favorite place. Read on!

Owners Jackie and Natalie launched Swink in November 2009. They are fresh and fearlessly devoted to Seattlites.
What is Swink?  Swink is a blowout bar offering many things including lash extensions, makeup, flat ironed looks, beachy waves, each one style-specific  for customers.

Natalie, how did you come up with the idea for a style bar? I travel to New York, London and similar places for public speaking events, dinners, and realized the need for a mani-pedi for my hair. Without spending $80 at a salon I wanted a quick fix.

So what are quick fixes in style right now?  We're seeing loose beachy waves, updo to the side, belle de jour, upswept bun, accidental side bun, just to name a few.

So how does it work? How do I know what looks good?  We have an illustrated book as a starting point for conversation. Your stylist will consult with you about the blowout.

How hard is it to get in?  Weekdays are easy to walk in. Weekends you'll definately need an appointment. Tuesdays are getting busier due to our 20 buck Tuesday specials. Clients who want to look good for the week can come in and keep their hair looking good all week.

My customers are brides, how can you help them? Its a great place to get your engagement, trash the dress, or boudoir hair & makeup done!  Also, as a bride, you can opt to rent the place out completely. Bridal hair & makeup is $150, bridesmaids are $75, and we offer a light lunch, champagne and a private family experience. You're welcome to bring your own music and enjoy yourself! We are one of the few places to close down our shop to you affordably.

Tell me something special for brides, what can you recommend for them? Dress fittings are a great time to test your hair & makeup. Brides tend to do updos and at the fitting you can see whether it truly fits your dress or not. Everyone has an idea of what it will look like, but to be able to put yourself together from head to toe, you can actually have a vision before you get to the altar.  Some dresses might not look good with an updo/downdo.  Its quick and cheap!  $30!

Tell me about working at swink? Why would someone want to work here?   We're super fun to work with, one of the best things about being here is that you're part of a transformation. People walk out very happy, whether an interview, date, or event calls for special hair, we're here to help you look your best. There's a lot of personal satisfaction in being a stylist here.

What's it like being on the clock?  Employees are paid as hourly stylists, we don't rent chairs. Also, the service is affordable and stylists earn tips on top of their hourly wage. We offer incentives and other perks to build the team.

So there you have it! Thank you Jackie and Natalie for an awesome experience at Swink, I can't wait to get my "rain bang" fixed.

Can you offer discounts to my customers who stop in for services on the go? Yes!  For a limited time customeres who mention April Greer Studio, receive 15% off their services.

Thank you Natalie and Jackie for a great interview.  There are plans to franchise and open up on the East Side too!

From their website:

Acolorstory encourages positive self expression through

fashion|music|&design.

It is our mission to inspire the eager mind,

 encourage forward thinking

& serve as a creative outlet

for the aesthetically driven individual.

I had the pleasure of working with 3 inspiring young women in December on a photo shoot for their business. Despite the biting temperatures, they pranced around the streets of Tacoma like it was a HEATWAVE!

Brittany, Susy, and Elena are the beauties behind A COLOR STORY.  Its a great resource for design, music, fashion and much more. I had a great time collaborating on this project, here are screengrabs from their site.   I love working with new businesses to create an identity that defines their presence in the marketplace.

These are 2 of my favorite shots resulting from their session with me.  Good luck to A COLOR STORY!
